What is Mirchi?

Mirchi is a Desi grocery delivery service catering to South Asian ethnicities such Indian, Pakistani, and Bangladeshi ethnicities.

What does the word Mirchi even mean?

Mirchi translates to Chili in Hindi. It can mean spicy or hot.

How does it work?

Order online from the convenience of your home without having to ever step in a grocery store again. We will get the groceries delivered to your door economically and in a timely manner.

What locations is it available at?

Mirchi is currently only available in New York and parts of New Jersey. We cover all of Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, and most of Queens, and parts of Nassau County.

How are items priced?

Our goal for Mirchi's pricing is to be as economical as possible while still being able to stay in business and sustain this service for you. While price adjustments might happen frequently, if you notice an item that you believe is priced incorrectly or unfairly, please email us at info@mirchimarket.com

What is the order minimum?

Minimum order amount is $35.

What are the available delivery windows?

Delivery windows vary by zip code. Check the delivery windows in the drop down options for your zip code on the store page.

How much is the delivery fee?

Delivery fees vary by neighborhood and may vary by delivery windows within those neighborhoods. Check the delivery windows in the drop down options for your zip code on the store page.

What if I see a problem with the product listing?

Product listings are always playing catch-up with what the stores carry. It is inevitable that the listing may not be complete or accurate. If you do see any problem with product, be it a typo in the description or an incorrect price, please email us at info@mirchimarket.com or by using the contact form. If you are looking for a product that you cannot find here, please do let us know as well.

How much should I tip for delivery?

You are under no obligation to tip. But if you are looking to get a sense of how much to tip, it is customary in the US that delivery people are tipped anywhere between 10% and 20% of the order total. We want you to feel free to tip online or in person or to even tip at all.

Do the drivers get the tips?

Yes, the tip that you add on the order goes to the drivers. We want our drivers to provide excellent service irrespective of the tip amount, so we do not disclose the tip amounts to the drivers, but rather, pay them a lumpsum tip amount for the day.

Can I edit my order?

Yes, you may Edit your order from the Order History by up to 8 AM the day of delivery. If you need to make modifications on the order after 8 AM, please contact us and we can attempt to do so.

How do I pay if I add anything to the order?

Your card will be charged automatically for any adjustments made to the order.

How is my order packed?

Your order is packed in a thoughtful manner with heavy items at the bottom, delicate items like cookies on top. Any glass items are packed in bubble wrapping, and any frozen items are packed with dry ice.

How do you pick my tomatoes or other produce?

We check for produce quality when it comes in our door. We store it in appropriate temperatures based on the produce. We manually and pain-stakingly pick and pack the best produce en-masse. On the morning of, we set aside only the desired quantity of produce that matches our quality standard. We strive constantly, but sometimes we also fail. If that should happen, please reach out to us with a picture of the bad produce and we'll try to make it right.

How do the substitution preferences work?

Grocery items regularly run out of stock, and so we ask this question. If you choose 'OKAY to substitute', we will attempt to make the best possible substitution, if needed. If you choose 'NOT OKAY to substitute', we will simply remove any items that are not available. If you choose 'CALL / CONFIRM before making any substitutions', we will call you to ask for possible substitutions. If you are not reachable, no substitutions will be made, and missing items will simply be removed.

Can I cancel or reschedule my order?

Yes, you may cancel or reschedule your order for a full refund from the Order History by up to 8 AM the day of delivery. If you must cancel after 8 AM, please contact us and we can attempt to do so.

What if I must cancel or reschedule my order after it is already on the way?

Cancelling or rescheduling your order after it has left our door will incur the full cost of the perishable items on the orders including any produce and any refrigerated and frozen goods as they cannot be restocked. We will not charge for any dry goods on the order.

What if I am not home to accept the delivery?

We will attempt to contact you regarding your order, but if you are not reachable or are simply unable to accept the delivery, we will contact you to either cancel or reschedule the order. In either case, you will be charged delivery fee as well as for any perishable items on the orders including any produce and any refrigerated and frozen goods as they cannot be restocked. We will not charge for any dry goods on the order.

How do I report a problem with my order?

IPlease report any problems with the order within 48 hours by contacting us by email at info@mirchimarket.com or using the Contact form on the website for an immediate resolution. In case of a product issue, it is best to share pics of the product to help us understand the issue better.

How do I get refunded for any missing items on the order?

You will not see a separate refund for the missing items, but rather just a reduced charge matching the final order value when the transaction posts to your statement. It might take a few days for the transaction to post depending on your bank.

What if I want to return or replace something?

We cannot accept returns on perishable items on the orders including any produce and any refrigerated and frozen goods as they cannot be restocked. For any dry items, it is best to return on your next order. Please just let us know before your next order, and we can add a note for the driver to collect the returns.

Can I return or replace something before my next delivery?

Sure, you can, but since it costs us to send the driver over to you, you will be assessed an extra delivery fee.

Why did you change your name from Fretch to Mirchi?

Fretch was born with a different idea in mind addressing multiple ethnicities, but as we made headway into South Asian market, we felt we needed a name that better resonates and makes sense for the South Asian community.
